Fixing an awning to the side of a house can be quite a bold design statement. Awnings are large and dramatically change the visual appearance of the building, so choosing one that fits is important. Fortunately there are many designs to choose from, the right one just needs to be found.
Fixed Or Retractable?
Home awnings are available in fixed or retractable designs, both of which do the same job, but they do it in different ways. Fixed awnings are permanent structures, once installed they can’t be adjusted. They are more sturdy and tend to be larger in design than retractable designs.
As the name suggests, retractable awnings can be extended and retracted. This allows them to fold next to the building into a cassette, storing the awning neatly away on the wall. They look less visually striking than larger, fixed awnings and are often used for garden and sitting areas.
