Painter’s tape is a unique type of masking tape that is used to cover an area to protect it when painting. It is especially useful for creating crisp straight lines and corners. Here’s how to use painter’s tape to mask an area for painting.
- First, tear of a strip of tape around two feet long.
- Carefully place the tape along the area that needs to be protected.
- Begin to seal the tape firmly against the surface. The tape can be tightly stuck down using a spoon or a fingernail.
- Once the tape has been sealed, paint the desired area.
- When the area has been painted, remove the tape while the paint is still wet. Make sure to pull the tape slowly away from the painted surface. The tape needs to be removed while the paint is still wet as removing it from a dried surface will peel the paint.
- If there are any errors or unpainted areas left over, these can be tidied up using a fine brush and some of the paint.
